This code identifies a factory option package or special-edition equipment group” The vehicle has had previous owners, so I am trying to separate factory equipment from later modifications. Is this code enough to confirm how it left the factory?

Check the production month as well as the model year. Mid-year changes are one reason two vehicles with the same badge can have different hardware or descriptions.
